A mother from Piece County was notified by her daughter in Idaho that her eldest child Rosemarie Murphy was murdered in Twin Falls, Idaho. Soon afterwards she contacted “Families & Friends” for support. She attended “Families & Friends” peer support group that was then held in Tacoma. The case remained unsolved for almost 11 years. During the interim her mother received support from “Families and Friends”
On March 18, 2008 the offender plead guilty to 2nd degree murder for the death of Rosemary Murphy and was sentenced on June 2, 2008 to 15 years to life in prison. “Families & Friends” assisted the mother with her victim impact statement and also submitted a victim impact statement on her behalf. With the help of Families & Friends the mother was able to travel to Twin Falls Idaho and address the court on her daughter’s behalf.
There is no such thing as a good murder but it does help when an arrest is made soon after the crime and the criminal justice process commences. Survivors of homicide need answers why their loved one was taken from them so brutally. Until the trial or guilty plea takes place resolution is not possible.
