COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM
Victim Support Services is proud to offer our Community Support Program (CSP), made possible through the support of the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). This program is designed to strengthen and expand services for individuals affected by crime and violence, offering a comprehensive, trauma-informed approach to meet the unique needs of victims and survivors of violent crime.
The CSP provides free support groups, workshops, and related activities for eligible participants. Through these sessions, individuals have the opportunity to share experiences, find comfort, and connect with others who have faced similar challenges. By fostering a sense of community, understanding, and empowerment, the program helps participants build resilience and navigate their healing journeys.
How the CSP Supports Participants:
- Expand Reach: Reach a wider audience of individuals who may benefit from participating in support groups, ensuring that our services are accessible to all who need them.
- Professional Facilitation: Provide trained facilitators who specialize in trauma-informed care, creating a safe and empathetic environment for participants.
- Resource Development: Develop additional resources and materials that will enhance the support group experience and provide valuable information for coping and healing.
- Community Outreach: Conduct outreach initiatives to raise awareness about the support groups and encourage individuals to participate.
- Strength through Community: By fostering a sense of community and shared strength, and celebrating small victories in the journey towards healing, the program will contribute to the resilience of individuals facing grief.
We invite you to stay connected and involved as the Community Support Program continues to grow. If you would like to receive updates about upcoming workshops, support groups, and retreats, please email Amelia Bell, Community Support Coordinator, at Amelia@victimsupportservices.org to be added to our mailing list.
Together, we can nurture a community of healing, resilience, and strength for those impacted by violent crime.
What's Next for the Community Support Program?
Our current JAG funding for the Community Support Program ended on September 30, 2026, and at this time, we do not have additional workshops or retreats scheduled.
We are hopeful that additional funding opportunities will become available so we can continue offering these programs to victims and survivors at no cost. We will keep our community updated as we learn more and as future workshops, retreats, support groups, and other opportunities become available.
Watch Our Year in Review
In the meantime, we invite you to watch our Community Support Program Year in Review and see the impact this program has had since September 2025.
Over the past year, CSP has provided opportunities for more than 100 victims of crime to participate in workshops, retreats, educational sessions, wellness activities, and meaningful opportunities for connection with other survivors.
Together, we hope to continue nurturing a community of healing, resilience, connection, and strength for those impacted by violent crime.
