Employee of the Quarter

This month, VSS is shining a spotlight on one of its best and brightest, as Employee of the Quarter!

Leslie McPherson, Programs Administrator at VSS, has been selected by her colleagues for her outstanding commitment to victims of crime and their loved ones in our region. Over the past 9 years, her contributions to the field have been immeasurable, helping VSS live up to its goals and mission, all the while exemplifying its core values.

As VSS’s longest serving employee, Leslie has exceeded expectations in every role she has occupied at the agency – beginning as a volunteer in 2013, and working her way to a Victim Advocate, Hotline Coordinator, Director of Hotline and Volunteer Services, to Programs Administrator (all programs) in 2020.  In 2016, she led the evolution of Washington’s first 24-hour Crime Victim Service Center hotline, streamlining and organizing the process throughout. In 2019, she was a proud graduate of Leadership Snohomish County. In 2020, Leslie took charge of the VSS Training Academy, giving it a facelift and ensuring that all classes were current, comprehensive, and that each student would receive the best training to set them up for success as a future Victim Advocate. Leslie pours every ounce of her authentic and positive energy into each and every task she takes on.

VSS’s Executive Director said: “Leslie embodies all of the qualities of an amazing leader in human services. Her kind and compassionate nature, combined with her steady management of organizational priorities, as well as her ability to curate healthy relationships, both internally and externally, is what really sets her apart. Leslie is truly a beacon of light, and it has been a privilege to witness her grow into such an incredible leader in victim services over the past few years. Her accomplishments have been numerous and I am excited to watch her continue to climb mountains, because I have no doubt that she will!”

On a more personal note – Leslie is a proud Auntie of three beautiful Littles – Elden, Emery and Elliott. She is very family-oriented and enjoys regular family gatherings as well as traveling to experience new places and cultures with her loving boyfriend of three years. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her doggo, Frank. Her love for coffee is unmatched, and Leslie has been known to travel with her trusty espresso machine buckled in right next to her!

CONGRATS, Leslie!
