Crisis Line Volunteers – We Couldn't Do It Without Them!

We literally couldn’t provide the 24 hour crisis line without our fabulous crisis line volunteers.  From 9am-5pm M-F our crisis line is staffed by advocates, in our Everett office.  After the daytime staff goes home our volunteer Crisis Line Advocates take over.  They staff the crisis line from 5pm-9am on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays (even Christmas).  That’s a total of about 570 hour each month that our crisis line volunteers give of their time, to be available for those who need them.  Crisis line volunteers come from all walks of life.  Some are retired, work in social services, are students, and others have been on the other end of our crisis line in the past, and have decided they want to give back.  They all have one thing in common, the ability to compassionately listen to someone who needs help.  When the crisis line rings, you never know who is going to be on the other end, and our volunteers are prepared for it all.  Sometimes they are able to give practical advice to callers like what steps to take when their wallet has been stolen, how to make a police report, or who to call for crime scene clean up.  But for others there isn’t practical advice to give, they just simply need to tell their story, for the first time, or the hundredth time.  Either way our volunteers are there to listen, and to understand.  For more information about volunteering contact [email protected].  If you need someone to talk to, we are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Don’t hesitate to call us at 1-800-346-7555.
