The Tompkins Project

WE HAVE SOME VERY EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!!!

VSS was recently awarded a $500,000 grant specific to providing services in Island County!

The grant, titled, ‘Services to Victims and Survivors: A Funding Initiative to Address Unmet Victim Service Needs’, was wrote specific to Island County and includes an additional VSS office location, specifically to serve residents of Island county who have been affected by general crime, an office space on Whidbey Island, a Victim Services Coordinator (to serve Island county only), and two other positions. VSS has always provided services in Island County, but we’ve never had a physical office there. Having a dedicated office and advocate for that region will help us reach more people.

Additionally, this program is named “The Tompkins Project”, after our dedicated and sweet Board member and friend – Detective Scott Tompkins – who passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in September of this year. Scott gave his heart and soul to VSS and helping victims of crime, and we will always keep his memory alive. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THIS PROJECT!

Funding starts in January. 2019 will be another great year for Victim Support Services as we continue to grow and expand our services. More details to follow, stay tuned!
