Congratulations to our 2023 Employee of the Year!
As we always start off a new year, it is time to reflect on the exceptional contributions of our dedicated team members at VSS. Among the many talented individuals who have played a crucial role in our organization’s success, one name shines brightly – our esteemed Employee of the Year – ChewBeng Woodcock!
ChewBeng (affectionately known among VSS staff and Board as “Chew”) has worked as the Accounts Manager at VSS since 2014. Her role keeps her in the shadows producing and processing invoices and bills, reconciling accounts, reviewing statements, producing budget and expenditure reports, and many other finance related tasks. We are thrilled to honor ChewBeng for her outstanding commitment, unwavering dedication, and remarkable achievements in the realm of financial stewardship. In a role that demands precision, foresight, and a keen understanding of our nonprofit’s financial landscape, Chew has consistently demonstrated exemplary professionalism and an unparalleled work ethic. Juggling budgets, financial reports, and compliance requirements can be a daunting task, but Chew has an amazing ability to navigate the complex world of nonprofit accounting with grace and precision. Over the years at VSS, her keen eye for detail has led to the identification of cost-saving opportunities, allowing us to allocate resources more efficiently and maximize the impact of our programs and initiatives.
Beyond the numbers, Chew has always demonstrated many other exceptional qualities. Her collaborative spirit and willingness to go above and beyond to support colleagues has always fostered a positive and cohesive team environment. In addition, her cooking skills remain unmatched and we sure do miss the days of working in a physical office together where she would spoil us rotten with her curry and other delightful dishes!
Alas, the journey to excellence is often marked by unexpected twists, and Chew has navigated one such challenge with remarkable grace. In February of 2023, she faced a life-altering event, surviving a DUI crash that tested her resilience and courage. In the aftermath of this ordeal, Chew exhibited a strength that left an indelible mark on our entire VSS family. In the wake of the incident, Chew not only demonstrated incredible personal strength but also maintained an unwavering commitment to her professional responsibilities. Despite the physical and emotional toll, she returned to both of her jobs much sooner than anyone could ever expect, with the same diligence and dedication that has come to define her tenure with us. Her ability to persevere through adversity serves as an inspiration to us all. In a world where challenges can sometimes seem insurmountable, she has shown us the power of resilience, grit, and determination.
As we celebrate Chew as our 2023 Employee of the Year, let us acknowledge the strength it takes to overcome challenges and emerge stronger on the other side. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and deep gratitude to her for embodying the spirit of perseverance and excellence that defines VSS.
Congratulations to Chew on this well-deserved recognition as Employee of the Year!
